The use of turquoise and coral as personal adornment by Southwestern Native Americans dates back to prehistoric times. The use of Silver by the Navajo is more than 100 years. Turquoise is the birthstone of December , it signifies success and is believed to have healing abilities when worn. Both the turquoise and the coral in this piece makes it highly collectible and an investment piece. Rare high grade natural turquoise and genuine Mediterranean coral made of 100% sterling silver. A wonderful investment piece. Stamped with the hallmark JJ. The total length of the cord is 42 inches. It has a hanging length of 21 inches. The silver is 1 1/2 inches wide by 2 inches long. Each bolo tip is approximately 1 3/4 inch long. Two of the turquoise stones are approximately 1/2 inch in diameter with one stone being a bit smaller. The coral is approximately 1/4 inches in diameter. The bolo was made in the 1970's, the cord and tips are new. As with all aged silver, please allow for natural patina, has not been polished.
