Huge Traditional Ceramic McCarty's Olla/By Linda Concho
Here we have a larger than life traditional hand painted polychrome ceramic Acoma McCarty's bowl made by Linda Concho of the Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico (shown in the last photo). Linda uses natural pigments and traditional Acoma designs and tools such as yucca brushes when creating her pieces. This absolutely huge piece is brand new, brought in by Linda just the other day. Amazing craftsmanship from Linda, as always, and this piece is no exception. This pot is sturdy and quite heavy. This piece measures approximately 11 inches tall and just over 12 inches inches at its widest point. A ginormous piece for a traditional ceramic Acoma bowl that will be sure to make a wonderful conversation starter and eye catcher. This piece will be sure to demand attention in any home or collection. Much larger than what the pictures may assume, this feels and looks much more in person. Linda refers to this style of bowl to be a McCarty, McCarty is also a small village in New Mexico not far from the Acoma Mesa. This style and size of pottery began there, ergo the name. This purchase allows Native Americans to continue to be employed in their traditional craft. Please reach out to us with any questions. We will take every precaution in assuring your pot will arrive timely and safe as we can possibly control.
